Editorial Policies
Focus & Scope
The French-Ukrainian Journal of Chemistry (FUJC) is an open-access, online-only journal publishing research articles, short communications, and reviews across all areas of chemistry and related disciplines (e.g., materials science, physics, biology). We welcome submissions from authors worldwide, regardless of affiliation with the GDRI network.
Open Access & Licensing
All content is freely available online upon publication. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. Authors retain copyright. Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for any third-party material and for indicating license restrictions when applicable.
Publication Frequency
FUJC is semiannual (two issues per year). Accepted papers may be posted online ahead of issue assignment when appropriate.
Authorship & Contributorship
Only individuals who have made substantial contributions (e.g., conception/design; data acquisition; analysis/interpretation; drafting/revision; approval of the final version; accountability for the work) may be listed as authors. Others who contributed less substantially should be acknowledged. Changes in authorship (order, additions, removals) require written justification and consent from all listed authors.
Submission, Originality & Preprints
Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Prior posting to reputable preprint servers is allowed; authors must disclose the preprint DOI/URL on submission and update it with the published citation after acceptance. Redundant/duplicate publication is not permitted.
Peer Review Process
FUJC operates single-blind peer review.
-
Editorial screening: All submissions are assessed by editors for scope, basic quality, and compliance.
-
External review: Suitable manuscripts are sent to expert reviewers.
-
Decisions: accept; accept with minor revisions; revise & resubmit; reject or recommend submission elsewhere.
-
Timelines: review durations vary by submission; no decision times are guaranteed.
-
Selection criteria: (1) relevance to FUJC readership; (2) coherence, readability, and accessibility; (3) soundness of theory/methodology; (4) clarity of communication; (5) originality and novelty.
All editors, reviewers, and staff must maintain confidentiality of manuscripts and reviews.
Research Integrity, Screening & Misconduct
We take reasonable steps to prevent and address plagiarism, redundancy, data/image fabrication or falsification, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, and related misconduct. Submissions may be screened with similarity-checking tools. Allegations (pre- or post-publication) are handled in line with COPE guidance, which may lead to corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions.
Conflicts of Interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors must declare any competing interests (financial, personal, or professional) that could influence the work or its evaluation. Declarations are published with the article or recorded in the editorial file as appropriate.
Data, Code & Materials — Sharing and Reproducibility
Authors should make data, code, and materials underlying published findings available in a trusted repository whenever ethically and legally possible, and include a Data Availability Statement in the manuscript. Where restrictions apply, they must be clearly disclosed. Datasets and software should be cited appropriately.
Ethical Oversight (Human/Animal Research)
Submissions involving humans, human data, or animals must state prior ethics approval by an appropriate committee and describe informed consent/assent procedures as applicable. Clinical trial registrations should be provided when relevant. Authors must confirm that research complied with institutional and international standards.
Post-Publication Updates (Corrections, Retractions)
We correct the scholarly record when necessary. Minor errors may be addressed via corrigenda. Serious issues (e.g., unreliable findings, ethical breaches) may lead to expressions of concern or retractions, following COPE Retraction Guidelines. All notices remain open and are bidirectionally linked to the affected articles.
Author Fees (APCs)
FUJC does not charge submission fees or article processing charges (no APCs). Publication is free of charge.
Copyright & Rights
Copyright remains with the authors. The CC BY 4.0 license applies to all articles unless stated otherwise. Licensing information and the copyright holder are indicated on the article’s HTML and PDF.
Archiving & Preservation
FUJC participates in LOCKSS/PKP PN and institutional backups to ensure long-term preservation and access should the journal cease publication.
Advertising Policy
FUJC does not display advertising and does not accept advertorials. If advertising is introduced in the future, decisions will be made independently of editorial considerations, and adverts will be clearly separated from editorial content.
Direct Marketing
Any direct marketing on behalf of the journal (e.g., calls for papers) is targeted, factual, and unobtrusive. We do not sell or share author/reviewer contact data with third parties.
Revenue Sources & Editorial Independence
The journal is supported by institutional resources of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by financial considerations, institutional affiliations, or potential commercial interests.
GenAI Use Policy
-
Authorship: Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
-
Disclosure: Authors must acknowledge any GenAI use in the Acknowledgements or a dedicated Author Note, specifying how it was used (e.g., language editing, code generation, image processing, data analysis).
-
Responsibility: Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all content produced with or without GenAI assistance and must ensure no confidential or proprietary information is shared with third-party tools.
-
Peer Review: Reviewers may not use GenAI to generate reviews or summaries of manuscripts. Sharing manuscripts with third-party AI systems violates confidentiality.
-
Editorial Use: Editors may use GenAI for limited administrative tasks (e.g., language checks), not for editorial decisions or reviewer selection.
-
Compliance: Use of GenAI must comply with license terms, human/animal ethics, and data-use permissions; image manipulation policies apply regardless of tool.
Characterization of Chemical Compounds (Field-Specific)
For new compounds, authors must provide sufficient information to establish identity and purity, and enough experimental detail for replication. Characterization typically includes appropriate combinations of NMR, MS, IR, UV–Vis, elemental analysis, single-crystal/powder X-ray (where applicable), chromatographic purity or other relevant metrics. Raw or processed data should be shared per the Data policy above.
Access & Indexing
All articles are open access upon publication. Indexing and archiving services may receive metadata and full texts to enhance discoverability and preservation.
Complaints & Appeals
Complaints about the editorial process or conduct, and appeals to editorial decisions, may be addressed to the Editor-in-Chief at the journal contact address. Appeals must include a clear rationale and any supporting evidence and are reviewed by an editor not involved in the original decision or by the editorial committee. COPE guidance is followed where applicable.
